Instructions for patients preparing for a Sinus Lift
AUGMENTIN 500 mg 1 every 8 hours starting three days before surgery and
continuing until gone or AMOXCILLIN 1 gm to start three days before surgery
and then one every 6 hours until gone. Usually a 7-10 day supply.
If allergic FLAGYL 500mg bid 1 wk before and after.
AFRIN nasal applications on a q-tip gently pushed back down the nose
three times a day for 3 days. The q tip should be kept parallel to
the floor and should go back about three inches.
15 min later inhale through the nose a solution of warm water mixed with
1/2 teaspoon of salt and a pinch of baking soda. When it reaches the
back of the throat blow it back out. This is one of the best cleansing
methods for cleaning the sinuses.
SUDAFED twice a day(decongestant) starting 3 days before surgery and continuing
for two weeks after.
Do not take aspirin, advil or any arthritis drugs one week prior to surgery
unless directed by Dr. Brooksby.
After surgery DO NOT blow the nose or sneeze through the nose for three to
six weeks.
